Vet Visit
So I didn't get a chance to get a shot of her wounds but this is some blood on the floor of the room. This is after only laying down for a moment even after wiping them and putting pressure on them at the park. The vet flushed out the two large puncture wounds and the skinned patch with saline solution while pumping her with antibiotics. But even after putting pressure on it for awhile it was still bleeding. They said they will need to be watched, remain open, and make sure they drain right. One was already swollen slightly when I got her there so they want me to watch her closely. They warned that tomorrow she will be in a lot more pain and bruising is sure to show up around the wounds. If they start to get red and/or don't drain properlly it will be cause for worry and if things get too bad they might have to do surgery to make sure nothing vital was damaged. The two puncture wounds were deep but they are thinking that it might only be muscle damage which isn't too bad. They sent me home with antibiotics and pain killers. Rounded out to be about $200. And thats without counting her follow up in three days and hope that nothing more drastic will need to happen. It is frustrating that the owners of the dogs never came to check in with me even though it was obvious that she was bleeding considering by the end of it all I was holding a damp bloody rag. Because of people being inattentive I now have an injured pup who needs to be caged otherwise she would bleed all over the house, and $200 dent into my already fun filled debt. *sigh* I know there are dangers always when you bring your dog to a dog park. I have seen many fights myself. But this is the first time my dog has actually been attacked and it is a little scarey. I don't plan to stop going to the park though. I just think I will keep her walking along the outskirts for awhile until I feel more comfortable allowing her to socialize again. Luckily she is easily amused by sniffing the fence line and peeing on trees. :-)
Anyways, I just had to vent. It was a rather frustrating and scarey experience. Once again I am truly thankful for those who helped me. It makes it so I am comfortable still going back to that place. If no one had come to help, I don't think I would trust to bring her back again. I was lucky not to have been bit myself when I was trying to push the other dogs off of her and keep them away. Bah, I am rambling agian. I should go check on the puppy. Hopefully, with a restful weekend, in a few days I can take her out again but keep her close....
